Weyerhaeuser Sr. HR Business Manager - Canadian Lumber, Engineering & Reliability - Remote in Canada

This is a great leadership opportunity for someone seeking to lead a team, partner with senior business leaders, and use their HR and business expertise to create culture, build a winning team, and drive change. In this position, you will work closely with the Western Lumber Vice President, providing strategic guidance on organizational issues and HR solutions to accelerate business performance and effectiveness. You will lead the Canadian Lumber HR team of three HR Business Partners, who support three Lumber facilities located across British Columbia and Alberta. Some of the facilities are unionized. You will also provide day-to-day HR support to the VP of Engineering & Reliability and the Lumber Sr. Engineering Director. You will report to the Senior HR Director, Lumber, located in Seattle, Washington. You must within driving distance of at least one of the Canadian Lumber mills that you will be supporting.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR leadership to align on HR approaches, policies, and programs to support organizational strategy and goals
  • Utilize data and analytics to drive HR decisions and assess organizational effectiveness
  • Proactively identify creative and strategic people solutions, and advise and influence Lumber business leaders regarding employee engagement, strategic workforce capability, and organizational effectiveness
  • Guide leaders through execution of HR programs, processes and strategic initiatives such as performance management, employee development, recruiting, selection and retention, inclusion, succession planning, safety, change management, hiring, compliance, and employee relations
  • Evaluate, execute, and monitor salary action planning and annual incentive plans
  • Lead and develop the Canadian Lumber HR team to build a team that can succeed without you
  • Work with leaders and the full Lumber HR team to build strong work relationships, resulting in high morale, productivity, and retention
  • Be seen as a subject matter expert for HR by business partners
  • Collaborate with corporate HR partners, including the benefits and recruiting teams, to align and solve for business partner needs
  • Interpret and advise on HR policy; maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the management of employees and unionized workplaces; and ensure compliance with all applicable company policies, safety guidelines, regulations and laws
  • Provide day-to-day HR support as required to the VP of Engineering & Reliability and the Lumber Sr. Engineering Director, including assisting with hiring, performance management, and employee relations issues, among other things
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • At least 10 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Experience supporting multiple locations and personnel over a diverse, multi-state or province region is a plus.

  • At least 5 years of experience working with unions and supporting unionized workforces
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • Must reside in British Columbia or Alberta and be within driving distance of the mills in Grande Prairie, A.B.; Drayton Valley, A.B; or Princeton, B.C.

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $127,600 - $188,300 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 15% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Nonunion Canadian employees are automatically enrolled in our Defined Contribution Pension Plan, which includes a paid company match up to 6%, in addition to a company contribution equaling up to 7.25% of your base salary.
