Weyerhaeuser Product Development Manager- Wood Products in Seattle, Washington

A product development manager is a key role within Weyerhaeuser’s New Product Development team and reports to the Senior Product Development Manager in the Sales Enablement organization. The role involves managing the product development lifecycle from conception through commercial-scale market launch, ensuring that new products meet customer needs while meeting project performance and budget expectations.

To be successful in this role, a product development manager must have excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, as well as a strong understanding of product development processes, market dynamics, and customer behavior. They must also be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.

This individual is accountable for supporting improved business performance through the development and alignment of our Wood Products business and product line strategies and execution against customer needs.

This role can be a full-time remote position, however preference for the selected candidate to be located near one of the following locations: Weyerhaeuser’s Seattle, WA Headquarters, Hot Springs, Arkansas, or in the vicinity of a Weyerhaeuser Wood Products manufacturing facility.

*Key responsibilities: *

  • Proactively developing actionable insights and recommendations that inform and shape our strategies using analytical tools and models leveraging internal and external data sources.
  • Effectively synthesizing information to address multi-layered strategic questions.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of new products that align with the company's overall goals with a focus on Mass Timber and Sustainability.
  • Partnering with customers, sales, engineering and manufacturing to identify customer needs, preferences, and pain points, and using this information to inform new product development opportunities.
  • Identifying and assessing key business drivers, relevant market trends and emerging opportunities and risks for building products.
  • Defining product requirements
  • Assembling cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, sales, and marketing, and customers to ensure successful product development and launch.
  • Providing data driven insights and recommendations to improve competitive positioning.
  • Creating and presenting analyses and data visualization of trends related to our competitive position, products and services and outlook to performance in the marketplace.
  • Monitoring product performance and conducting ongoing market analysis to identify opportunities for new product opportunities.
  • Key Accountabilities:
  • Manages a portfolio of new products and services prioritized against business goals.
  • Collaborates with the Sales and Market Intelligence teams to develop market outlooks that drive product mix, segment, channel, and geographic sales and manufacturing plans.
  • Works to connect our customer’s unmet product needs with our internal capabilities.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, manufacturing, finance and/or supply chain roles.

  • Experience in research, analytical and project management roles.
  • Demonstrated business and financial competency.
  • Understanding of wood products business profitability drivers and quality, ideally from both manufacturing and sales perspective.
  • Strong team player with ability to proactively solve problems and effectively communicate.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred
  • This role works with teams across multiple time zones and requires travel throughout North America up to 30% of the time with visits of up to one week in duration.

What We Offer:

Compensation:This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $95,000 to $172,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications, and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10-20% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with paid vacation for up to 3 weeks to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 hours along with paid parental leave for all full-time employees
